Akita - Dog Breeds

The Akita or Akita Ken is a dogbreeds Japan. They are named after the Akita Prefecture, where they originated and were used by Matagi (Japanese traditional hunters) for hunting wild animals, bears in particular. They are also sometimes known as Akita Matagi. The Akita Matagi name actually means "average bear-hunting dogs." Japanese dogs were initially relatively small and large breeds do not.
